clearly, the wardens made no effort to prioritize their well-beings. marisol sits on the stone floor, wearing clothes she isn't familiar with, under the sickeningly high-horsed gaze of other-worldly beasts. she's wondering why she's here, or how she got here, when she was only working the graveyard shift. there are others who have done much worse. "are you doing alright?" the nurse asks, moving towards who looked to be a young girl, likely no older than a teenager. it doesn't sit well with her to see someone so young with a chain around their neck and mask melded to their face. "try to breathe slowly," she starts, moving closer, with a warm hand over the youngster's. [break][break]

she taps, counting seconds to hold a breath and breathe along. it'll help keep her from panicking, at least.

The question kept racing throughout Mimi's mind. She sits in a corner on their prison bed, her arms curled tightly onto her knees. Her head is kept down, gaze completely fixated on the steel metal frame of their bed. Mimi shuts her eyes tight, trying her best to shut everything out: the yelling, the screaming, the loud clanging of metal bars, the suffocating toxic chain the dread which threatened to consume her..

Completely forgetting that she's not alone, at first Mimi didn't respond to Marisol. She couldn't hear the nurse's warm voice over her own fear. She mutters incoherently to herself, her breaths uneasy due to the strain of the chains. Gasping softly upon feeling the contact of Marisol's, Mimi makes eye contact with the nurse for a brief second before it snaps back to the floor.

"M-Marisol.. " whimpering, her voice is weak and dry "Wha-what's going to happen to us?"

she's quivering. [break][break]

shaking like a leaf. it's to be expected, however, when you find yourself in a place as downtrodden and rotten as a prison cell. when you're too young and suddenly exposed to the hell that is hoenn, the odds of coming out unscathed are low; that's the cruel reality that doesn't care of age, gender or upbringing. [break][break]

when her eyes snap back to the floor, marisol lowers herself further to try and get into eye contact. she's falling further into panic amidst the screaming and yelling of other inmates. "mimi, look at me." she speaks, lowly, softly, approaching closer with a calmer tone. "you are not going to die." [break][break]

she didn't die during the war, didn't die during the darkest day, didn't die despite those crushing odds. she was not going to let someone else rot in a cell. [break][break]

when the tears fall, marisol pauses and shrugs her lips beneath the cold mask. it's difficult to express what cannot be seen, and so she carefully pulls herself closer to pull the young woman into a gentle embrace. she rests the girl's head against her chest, gently stroking the back of her head. she tries to shield her from the screaming from the other cells, and the steel from the cells.[break][break]

"we will be okay." she hushes, breathing softly to calm herself - to calm her.
